A few lessons I’ve learned in my life as an artist:
When you’re present and receptive to life, inspiration finds you.
When you feel like shit, it’s harder to be present.
Taking care of yourself is a skill worth learning.
Grief has the potential to unlock doors worth opening.
You can be a channel to the song that wants to be sung.
You never know how long you’ve got on this planet.
You never know how long the ones you love will be around either.
Don’t hide your love away.
This song ⬆️ is called “Don’t Hide Your Love Away.” I wrote it in the wake of a dear friend’s sudden death in March of 2023.
He died doing what he loved— performing on stage, using the mediums of presence, cardboard cutouts, a makeshift drum set, and a his beautiful voice. He was 42.
